When I first read the essay, The Modest Proposal by Jonathan Swift, I didn't understand what my assignment exactly was to do. I was told I needed to come up with a list of social problems in the United States that might be the subject of a modest proposal. How was I going to come up with that? After some time thinking, I think I have some started.
1. Being rasist. People are being treated "the way they should be treated" based on color of skin.
2. Parties. Demorcratic or Republican. Which is better? Do we need to be mean to the other side just because we don't agree with what they have to say?
3. Single mothers. Mothers can get day care assistant, WIC, child support...anything they need, but do they really use it for the kids?
4. Most people don't think they have to work in America because there is so many benefits that the government will pay for with food stamps, housing assistants, basically about anything.
5. Medical treatment. Is it our moral right to refuse help, or is it the doctors right to make the decision on our health for us?
This is all I can come up with for now. I hope this is right. When I think of more I will rewrite this blog!!

What I am thankful for...
I am thankful for my amazing family who supports me in everything I do, even if they know it is wrong.
I am thankful for my amazing boyfriend, we have been through so much and even through thick and thin he is always there for me.
I am thankful for my friends. Without them I would not laugh as much as I do, or know all the things I do. I can run to them anytime for advice or just to vent.
I am thankful for my car, without that beast I would not be able to have as much fun as I do.
I am thankful for my job, without it I would of not have fallen in love with nursing as much as I do, now I have a goal to work for.
I am thankful for so much its not even funny. What are you thankful for?
Happy Thanksgiving.

Should I continue going to college?
After reading the essay The Case Against College, I still feel like college is important. In these days of age you will not get very far without some sort of college degree. The economy is not the best and you need all the education you can get in order to have money and be able to survive.
A lot of people do not go to four year universities anymore because they simply can't afford it. I didn't want to go to a four year university because I have it in my head, "get in and get out". Why spend so much money going to a four year university when a two year community college can give you the same education, minus the type of degree you have. Personally, I think an associates degree is just as good as a bachelors degree. There might be a few differences in pay, and where you will get a job, but it's all the same, I think.
Not going to college would be a mistake in my opinion because without it your not going to get very far in lief and may end up making minimum wage the rest of your life and living with your parents forever. I don't think anyone wants that, because I know that I don't.
I am going to stick to Rochester Community and Technical College, and I think everyone should stick to at least some kind of college whether it's a university or a two year college, every little bit of education you get will help you somehow in the long run!

How to have an effective paper!
There are three basics to having a good research paper. In order to make a good and effective paper you must have logos, ethos, and pathos. With these three basics in your paper, you always need a good, reliable and credited source to make the paper your writing become effective to the reader. Without these your paper will not be as strong and it won't be very effective to your readers.
Logos are used when you have facts and statistics that can help make what your saying in your paper more believable. Having an expert's opinion on that matter can also be a great way to have a credited source in your paper.
Ethos are when you want your reader to believe what you are saying. You will want to use good grammar, word choice, and vocabulary. Also being arrogant will not help this situation, it will make your reader upset, and not believe what you are trying to say.
Pathos are used to add emotion to your paper. The tone, and examples can show emotions throughout your paper. Alot of advertisements use pathos to get you into the product so you will buy it.
All three of these are a good way to make your paper more effective and get the reader to believe what you are saying. Without these three your paper will be less effective, and your readers might not believe what you are saying. Remember always use a creditable source!

The Glass Castle comments.
When I first opened the book, I wanted to fall asleep after every page, I thought it was boring and didnt understand why we had to read a boring book. Once the book started getting into detail and stating all the bad things that happened, the book started to become addicting. I never read books and when my parents saw that I couldnt put this book down they were shocked. If only they understood how addicting the book becomes after it starts getting into all the action...
I would recommend this book to anyone. It's an amazing book and lets you see how other people live..
